Student discounts in Barcelona
Education
Our Barcelona community can now enjoy exclusive discounts on higher education programs — a special offer to support your studies and career growth in the city!
Essential student cards
Before diving into specific discounts, it’s crucial to understand the key cards and documentation that will unlock the best savings in Barcelona. These include the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), local student identification, the Carnet Jove youth card, and a Barcelona Library card. Each serves different purposes and provides access to various discounts throughout the city.
The ISIC card is internationally recognised and accepted at many museums, attractions, and establishments across Barcelona. While not every venue accepts it, major tourist attractions and many restaurants offer ISIC discounts. Additionally, many European train companies and airlines provide ISIC holders with reduced fares, making it valuable for weekend trips and travel throughout Spain and Europe.
Transport
T-jove (young person's travel card)
Transportation costs can quickly add up in any major city, but Barcelona’s T-jove card is a game-changer for anyone under 30. This non-transferable single-person ticket offers unlimited journeys across all means of transport within the integrated system’s six zones. Valid for 90 consecutive days from first use, the T-jove costs just €44 for all zones (until 31st December 2025).

Airport transfers - Bus line 46
Getting to and from Barcelona’s airport doesn’t have to break the bank. While taxis can cost upwards of €30-40, bus line 46 offers a budget-friendly alternative at approximately €4.60 per journey. Operating from Av Paral·lel – Llançà to Airport Terminal T1, this service runs daily from 04:50 to 23:50 with 23 convenient stops along the route. For even greater savings, consider the Aerobus combined with your T-jove card.
Don’t forget to download the TMB app to track the bus and see updates like delays or route changes.
Trains
Spain’s free train travel programme ended on 1st July 2025, but students can still access discounted train travel through various programs. Renfe and Rodalies now offer new fare structures with student discounts and reduced-price passes for regular travelers. Students should check the official Renfe website for current discount programmes, as new initiatives specifically targeting young people and students are regularly introduced. These discounted options remain valuable for students who need to travel regularly between cities or to suburban areas for internships or part-time work.

Free Museums
Barcelona’s commitment to cultural accessibility shines through its extensive free museum program. The city actively encourages cultural visits by offering free entry to major attractions including the Picasso Museum, Parc Güell, and MACBA (Museum of Contemporary Art of Barcelona) on specific dates and during designated hours.
These free museum days are strategically scheduled throughout the year, often coinciding with cultural celebrations or awareness campaigns. Planning your cultural activities around these free access periods can result in significant savings while ensuring you don’t miss Barcelona’s most important cultural sites.
Beyond the major attractions, many smaller museums and galleries offer free or reduced admission for students with proper identification.
