Professional Women’s Network Barcelona
The Professional Women’s Network (PWN) - Global
PWN is a global non-profit organization that includes a number of sister chapters in various cities across the world, with more than 4000 members and 90 nationalities. It is a dynamic fast-growing offline and online network and leadership development platform for professional women of all sectors and industries.
PWN Barcelona
PWN Barcelona was established in 2007 as one of these city networks. It is a welcoming community of professional women (and other genders), and their events mainly focus on learning and advancing your career.
Vision
PWN Barcelona´s vision is to be THE go-to organization in Barcelona for:
- professionals of any gender searching for a strong community supporting their professional (and personal) growth,
- entrepreneurs who want to expand their network and business,
- people new in Barcelona that are looking for professional connections and help for their career development,
- organizations requiring an expert in diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging – to drive gender balanced leadership.
Mission
PWN Barcelona is a volunteer run, for purpose association. They are working at a local level, together with local organizations – while being part of a major global organization PWN Global.
- PWN Barcelona connects people through monthly networking events.
- PWN Barcelona makes development possible through workshops and training, their Mentoring Program as well as knowledge and best practice sharing.
- PWN Barcelona supports their members with the help of experts from their local and global network.
- With PWN Barcelona everyone grows together as professionals and as a community – in a safe space and with a strong sense of belonging.
Community
PWN Barcelona offers a supportive community with complex knowledge and a listening ear. They focus heavily on empowering members with knowledge, education, and skills that promote gender balanced leadership and drive the change for a more inclusive world. One of their most successful tools is the annual Mentoring Program, which already exists for more than 8 years. Since it started it has influenced the lives of more than 400 people across more than 15 nationalities.
PWN believes in equipping people with the skills to accelerate their professional growth, through events, workshops, and mentoring.
Membership
Becoming a Premium member means you get full access to the global Professional Women’s Network. Within PWN Barcelona, you will become part of a strong community that supports and empowers each other. You will be able to join for free all events for networking and skill development. The Barcelona events are mainly held in person, with few online events throughout the year. As you can also take advantage of all PWN global activities, those are accessible online, so you can connect with even more members across countries.
Ana Vilao promotes female leadership having participated in several STEM focused projects and has led a WERG (Women’s Employee Resource Group) in Ireland. In 2019, she joined her first professional organization and was shortlisted as a finalist in the “Businesswomen of the Year 2020” Awards in the “Transformative Employee” category (Cork – Ireland). After moving to Spain, she joined PWN Barcelona (first the Mentoring Team and currently as a member of the Board) to build her network and support PWN Barcelona that stands for her values, seeking to make a difference in gender equality and female leadership. Now, as a Treasurer and Board Member she hopes to continue this project by actively contributing to the PWN Barcelona strategy.
Monthly networking drinks
Networking is one of the single most powerful ways to boost your career – PWN’s mantra: connect, develop, support, grow, is exactly what networking is about. The more you connect and support, the more you learn and learning always leads to development.
PWN Barcelona hosts a monthly networking drink every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm. This is a relaxed, informal way to extend your network, meet new people and get to know a little more about PWN Barcelona. There is no entry fee, both members and non-members are all welcome and you just need to register on our website and save your spot.
Mentoring Program
PWN Barcelona prides itself on its Mentoring Program. Their program is open to anyone who believes in diversity and gender balanced leadership and is looking to advance their career or help others to do so.
In the past 8 years, 60% of people who participated in the PWN mentoring program have managed to achieve their professional goal, including promotions and career changes.
International Women's Day
In celebration of March 8th, International Women’s Day, PWN Barcelona organizes an annual market fair – to spotlight their Premium members and give them a platform and place to promote themselves, their business etc. They also learn how to improve their pitch while connecting with like-minded individuals.
