Professional Women’s Network Barcelona

The cosmopolitan city of Barcelona is an extremely popular destination among expats. Finding your new social circle can be a tough challenge, business networking is the perfect opportunity to enrich both your work and social life. For women keen on advancing their careers in Barcelona and building their network, a great place to start would be to join Professional Women’s Network Barcelona.

The Professional Women’s Network

The Professional Women’s Network is a global group, with a variety of sister chapters in various cities across the world. It is a dynamic fast-growing offline and online networking and leadership development platform for professional women of all sectors and industries.

PWN was founded in Paris, in 1996. With almost 3,000 members and more than 90 nationalities, PWN organises over 600 events a year in 29 cities.

PWN believes in equipping people with the skills to accelerate gender balance and diversity, with events, workshops and mentoring.

I joined PWN Barcelona to help expand my professional network. What I've discovered is Barcelona is so much bigger than my original view in terms of business. There is so much diversity here, and so much opportunity. I really love to learn from those who took the plunge to start their own business too!

PWN Barcelona

PWN Barcelona, established in 2011, is one of the city networks of PWN Global. It is a welcoming community of professional women and men and their events mainly focus on learning and advancing your career. These events offer interesting speakers, are highly interactive and give the opportunity to network afterwards.

The members of PWN have diverse backgrounds and professions and they openly welcome members from all genders. Anyone can become a member of PWN! From those in university looking to understand more about stepping into the job market, to those hoping to meet more people in their city, or those who want to learn new things and skills to help them in the workplace. We focus heavily on empowering members with knowledge, education, and skills that promote gender balanced leadership.

Becoming a member means you get full access to everything in PWN, not just PWN Barcelona. The Barcelona chapter runs bi-weekly events where they seek to network and empower their members through skills building. There is also a mentoring program that is run twice yearly that you may participate in. Through this membership you can also take advantage of all PWN global activities ran from other chapters. In these times the majority of these events are also online – helping PWN to connect more and more members together across countries.

PWN Barcelona is looking to enrich their connection to Barcelona via 2 strategies.

  1. The first is connecting with corporate companies and offering their employees membership packages that help to develop and inform their workforce.
  2. The second is via their in kind partnership strategy, where they seek to collaborate and connect with like minded people, organisations and groups to work together. This can be through many different ways – such as hosting events together, promoting each other’s work to their member bases or offering services.

Monthly networking drinks

Networking is one of the single most powerful ways to boost your career – PWN’s mantra: connect, share, learn, develop, is exactly what networking is about. The more you connect and share, the more you learn and learning always leads to development.

PWN Barcelona hosts a monthly networking drinks every 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm ONLINE.  This is a relaxed, informal way to extend your network, meet new people and get to know a little more about PWN Barcelona. There is no need to register, no entry fee, both members and non-members are all welcome.

PWN Barcelona Mentoring Program

PWN Barcelona prides itself on its Mentoring Program. Their program is open to anyone who believes in diversity and gender balanced leadership and is looking to advance their career or help others to do so.

In the past three years, 60% of people who participated in a PWN mentoring programme have gone on to achieve their life change goal, including promotions and career changes.

During the program, mentors and mentees will work together to achieve short-term goals. Mentees are learning to be more self-aware, to set boundaries and to deal with challenges.

International Women's Day

In celebration of March 8th, International Women’s Day, PWNs theme of choice was #ChooseToChallenge. This is the idea that a challenged world is an alert world and individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions.

PWN harnessed the power of their global network – with 19 different PWN city networks getting together for an uplifting event celebrating the inspirational women who continue to challenge the status quo. This unique event brought together a selection of high-profile speakers who shared empowering and galvanising messages, spotlighting achievements by women from around the globe.

The speakers’ list included:
Ms. Roberta Metsola, Vice President of the European Parliament, Ms. Margareth Henriquez, President and CEO of Maison Krug (LVMH Group), Ms Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and current Chair of the Elders and Ms. Cynthia Hutchison, Vice President of Automation Alley, and many more.

What we heard were many stories and ideas, including the challenges they face, their hopes for the future, and their advice to the next generation. After the event, I left feeling energised, inspired, and motivated. What women can achieve, simply by engaging together, sharing stories, and not being afraid can truly be magic!

Dear Professional Womens Network – Barcelona,

I'm moving from Amsterdam to Barcelona end of this year. Would love to connect with other women and expand my professional network.

Is there a membership and/or how can I be invited to meet-ups and events?

    Kind regards,
    Eva
