What is your company all about?
La Fuga Barcelona, formerly known as Eroica Caffé is an Italian restaurant/caffé where you can come for coffee, brunch, lunch, drinks after work and dinner. We offer live music shows and we organise events. It is a place for everyone, it is a place where different tribes meet.
Why did you choose to set up a business in Barcelona?
After many years living in Paris, Exeter and Groningen, i realised that I really missed home so that’s why I moved back to the south of Europe.
How did you come up with the idea/concept for your business?
I talked a lot with my friends and family about what I want to do and we came up with this idea.
How do you market your business and which strategies have been the most successful?
The three things that I found the most useful are events, social media and news papers.
How do you build a successful customer base in Barcelona?
We look for a stable customer base. We work on values, trust and service.
Is it mandatory for you to speak Catalan and/or Spanish as an entrepreneur in Barcelona?
Rather than mandatory, it is necessary.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of setting up a business in Barcelona?
The advantages for setting up a business in Barcelona are the city and the people there. The disadvantages of setting up a business in Barcelona in the last years, are politics and administrations.
What advice would you give someone who is interested in starting their own business in Barcelona?
To be aware of the challenges related to politics and bad administration.
